Frequently Asked Questions

Product Materials & Care
Our
pillows and duvets are filled with natural wool, which should not be machine
washed. To freshen up your Woolow, simply air it outside on a dry day — wool is
self-cleaning and naturally resists odours. For spills, spot-clean the cotton cover with a mild detergent and allow to air-dry fully.
It’s not essential, but a pillow protector or pillowcase will help extend the life
of your pillow. Wool naturally resists dust mites and odours, so you don’t need
the heavy-duty protectors often used with synthetic pillows.
Wool fibres are naturally springy, which helps them bounce back night after night.
With regular use, a pillow may gently settle — simply give it a shake and fluff to restore its shape.
With proper care, Woolow pillows last longer than synthetic alternatives. We
recommend reviewing your pillow every 3–5 years, depending on personal comfort
preference.
Our wool comes from happy, well-cared-for sheep on Irish farms. They are shorn seasonally in a cruelty-free process that does not harm the animals. Because
the filling is wool, Woolow is not a vegan product — but it is a sustainable and ethical choice.
Comfort & Health
They’re medium-firm. This means you get gentle softness with supportive structure —
ideal for neck and spinal alignment without the “sinking” feeling of down or synthetic pillows.
Many of our customers report improved comfort and reduced stiffness after switching to Woolow. The natural support of wool helps maintain healthy sleeping posture, which can ease neck or back strain.
Yes. Wool is naturally hypoallergenic and scientifically proven to resist dust mites, mould, and mildew. This makes Woolow ideal for people with asthma, hay fever, or dust sensitivities.
Not at all — wool is the most breathable natural fibre. It regulates temperature by
keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, so you never overheat.
Yes, naturally. The gentle infusion is designed to promote calm sleep without being overpowering. Over time, you can refresh your pillow with our Lavender Sleep
Spray for a subtle, soothing scent.
Sustainability & Ethics
Every Woolow pillow and duvet is filled with wool sourced from Irish farms, many of
them close to our own base in Co. Galway. It’s a truly local, traceable material.
Yes. Wool and cotton are natural, biodegradable fibres. At the end of its life, your Woolow pillow or duvet will break down safely without contributing to landfill
waste.
Memory foam is a petroleum-based synthetic product that does not biodegrade. Wool is natural, renewable, and compostable. Choosing Woolow supports both your wellbeing and the environment.

Yes, but not uncomfortably so. The topper adds natural cushioning and temperature regulation, improving comfort without overheating.
Absolutely. Many customers place a Woolow topper on memory foam mattresses to add breathability and a more natural sleeping surface.
Sleep Sprays
Our sprays are made with natural essential oils. They’re safe when used as directed — a light mist on bedding. As with all aromatherapy products, avoid direct skin
contact for babies and keep away from pets that are sensitive to essential oils.
A gentle scent lingers through the night. Because essential oils are natural, they don’t cling or overpower — they fade gradually.
Yes — our sprays can be used on any bedding, from cotton sheets to duvets.
